Elizabeth Sandor (2001): Vice Consul and Head of Consular Services for NSW British Consulate General

Elizabeth Sandor's career path became clear when she was still at school. "I  enjoyed a varied career in areas that truly reflect ³ûÖÊÓƵ's mottos, Ut Prosim, that I may serve." Elizabeth completed work experience in the Starlight Express Room at the Sydney Children's Hospital whilst at ³ûÖÊÓƵ, and this relationship continued beyond her school years.

Obtaining a Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of Sydney, Elizabeth went on to complete a Bachelor of Social Work. "Throughout university I worked in disability services. After graduation, I worked in adult palliative care and volunteered at Bear Cottage. Both jobs were truly a privilege."

In 2008, Elizabeth's career took her to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Elizabeth is the current Vice Consul and Head of Consular Services for NSW, based at the British Consulate General, Sydney.  "We are the busiest consular team in the Asia Pacific and have a diverse caseload, from assisting detainees, to meeting families whose loved ones have died, been injured, or have gone missing, through to supporting victims of sexual assault and crime, as well as responding to major humanitarian crises." Elizabeth feels fortunate to work for the FCO, as they champion women's and girls' rights around the world.  "As a female leader, I focus on creating an environment that promotes confidence and self-belief."

"Albert Einstein said, 'Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.' My advice to Wenonians is to use your time at school to better yourselves and take every opportunity to make a difference. Through acts of kindness, you have the ability to better the world."
