2020 Term 1

  • Art Inspiration everywhere - It’s not every day you meet a bona fide collector and supporter of contemporary art. But our Year 11 Visual Arts students were lucky to meet John Kaldor AO on their recent excursion.
  • Athenaeum Learning Pathway - ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ remains open, but we’ve trialled our Athenaeum Learning Pathway this week, with different year groups working from home or off campus. It was fantastic to see our community’s enthusiasm, grace and creativity!
  • Big cheers for Year 6 Camp - Year 6 had plenty of thrills and spills at their camp at Tallong, using their thinking and communication skills to tackle whatever challenges were thrown at them.
  • Boarders’ first weekend - Our Boarding House holds a special place in the ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ community, and it was great to hear it reverberating with laughter, as our boarders enjoyed their first ‘closed weekend’.
  • Kindergarten’s Inspirational Women - Ahead of International Women’s Day on Sunday, Miss Bouterakos’s challenged to think about some of the inspirational women in their lives.
  • Meet our new Head of Junior School - This week we welcomed lots of new faces to ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ, including our new Head of Junior School, Ms Justine Lind.
  • Meet our Writer-in-Residence - Award-winning writer, Lachlan Philpott has been working with Year 9 students to devise an original script for a play, which will ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ will perform in Term 4!
  • Oh what a night! - Great food, great jazz music and great conversation. What’s not to love about the ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Welcome Cocktail Party, as our wonderful parent community discovered last Friday!
  • Our wonderful parents - This week, the ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Parents’ Association (WPA) kicked off the first of their Welcome Lunches, with our Year 12 parents and key staff coming together at what was an incredibly enjoyable event.
  • Parents help celebrate Global Diversity Week - We celebrated Global Diversity week at ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ by inviting three of our parents, who speak a language other than English as their mother tongue, into our classrooms
  • The wonders of technology - As part of their PYP unit, Where we are in place and time, our Year 2 students discovered that Earth has changed dramatically over the past 4.5 billion years and that technology is relatively new.
  • UAL: The Perfect Portfolio - Last Thursday, Senior students from ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ and Monte attended a presentation from world-leading University of the Arts London (UAL) to learn how to develop a successful portfolio.
  • Welcome to ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ - Starting a new school can be daunting, but at ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ, you are only new for a day! It’s been wonderful to welcome Wenonians old and new, and to see everyone settling in well to Term 1.
  • ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ swimmers make a splash - It takes more than a spot of wild weather to stop a ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Swimming Carnival. Both our Junior and Senior Swimming Carnivals were full of camaraderie and great House spirit!
  • Who are you Year 1? - Time capsules are fun. Just ask Year 1, who learnt a lot about themselves when they custom designed their very own time capsules for their ‘Who We Are’ PYP Inquiry Unit.
  • Year 11 Legal Studies go to court - On a visit to The Downing Centre this week, our Year 11 Legal Studies students were privileged to observe part of the Chris Dawson committal proceeding.
  • Year 9’s 3D Edible Art - This week, Ms Jalili’s Year 9 Food Technology students used their creativity and design skills to make an incredibly sculptural silicone cake mould, inspired by leading pastry chef, Dinara Kasko.
