2019 Term 4

  • Be the change: Girl Power - Our new Year 12 cohort demonstrated their capacity to make a difference when they spoke about some of the social and environmental initiatives they’ve embraced, as well the young women who are inspiring them by driving change around the world.
  • Bringing HSC Legal Studies to life - Year 12 Legal Studies students have learnt a lot about young people and the law this week, with a visit from Children’s Legal Services and from Anti Slavery Australia.
  • Flying high with STEM - This week, Dr Thompson’s Year 9 STEM class had a chance to fly their own custom designed drones, after using 3D printers to develop and perfect their prototypes.
  • It’s game on for Year 6! - Our Year 6 students were bursting with energy and excitement this week as they programmed robots and created interactive games based on Louis Sachar’s book, Holes!
  • Mission Moon for STEM Day - ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ enjoyed an incredible day of interdisciplinary learning on Thursday, with students using their ‘big picture thinking’ to make the most of STEM Day 2019.
  • MUNA: And the winner is… - At the end of Term 3, ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ hosted the 2019 Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) forum. Students competed in teams against Shore, with ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ’s USA team placing first.
  • Networking and work experience - If you are nervous about networking, do more of it! Our Year 9 and 10 students polished their networking skills this week, perfecting the art of conversation with alumnae and other professionals.
  • Oh, the places you’ll go - This term, our Year 4 students have been undertaking an inquiry-based project into places: local, national and international.
  • Sharing the Planet with Year 1 - This week, Year 1 interviewed a ‘panel of experts’, including School Gardener, Mr Dos Santos, asking him lots of questions about bugs, bunnies and bees. It was all part of their latest unit of inquiry, ‘Sharing the Planet’.
  • STEM Tour to Lizard Island - Exploring our Blue Planet on ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ’s inaugural STEM Tour to Lizard Island left our students feeling inspired with a sense of wonder and curiosity.
  • Take a chance on Year 6 - How to turn abstract Maths concepts like chance and probability into an interactive learning activity? Just ask Year 6, who created their very own amusement arcade, followed by a Carnival Day for Year 5!
  • ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Cadets at Bivouac - During the last week of Term 3, the ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Cadets arrived at the Marrangaroo Training Area in Lithgow, ready for the next five days of Bivouac.
  • ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ’s Day of the Dead - Hola and Feliz día de Muertos everyone! Yesterday, ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ celebrated Mexico’s Day of the Dead with dancing in the Undercroft to the sounds of a Mariachi band.
  • Year 10 strike a pose - Year 10 Drama students have had great fun honing their movement skills, drawing on some of the techniques Head of Drama, Ms Crittle acquired overseas as part of her ³ûÖ­ÊÓƵ Teaching Fellowship.
  • Year 9 dreams of toil and trouble - Last week’s Year 9 Drama Showcase of Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth at the Independent Theatre was a riot of ricocheting relationships and murderous toil and trouble.
